Top 10 Overrated Albums of 2008
Indier Than Thou
In this post, I will list the top 10 overrated albums that everyone keeps insisting I should totally love. Keep in mind I've made a legitimate effort to find a number of these enjoyable, but have been unable to stomach. No links or sample MP3s for this list because odds are you already have each of these and have tried to convince me I am so very wrong.
So without further ado here are my picks for the worst and/or most overrated albums of two-thousand-and-hate!
10. Times New Viking - Rip It Off
9. TV on the Radio - Dear Science
8. Deerhunter - Microcastle
7. Why? - Alopecia
6. MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
5. Hot Chip - Made In The Dark
4. Death Cab For Cutie - Narrow Stairs
3. Santogold - Santogold
2. Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend
1. Girl Talk - Feed the AnimalsPosted by Ferry on 12/28/2008 2:20 PM in Tunes, Bitching

Totally agree with Girl Talk, Vampire Weekend, Death Cab and TV on the Radio. I enjoy half of those four to some extent, but they aren't anything spectacular. Girl Talk is pure garbage. Haven't heard the rest of them.

Disagree with the above indie rock snobbery. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

This whole post is about snobbery. That's not to say my snobbery is any more or less valid than any other kind.

Isn't indie rock all about snobbery anyways? I'm feeling that girl talk album, and it was free.

Okay, I liked the Best Of list, but I LOVE the Overrated list. I'll admit to an enjoyment of the MGMT record but otherwise you're battin' a thousand. Especially Deerhunter whom I consider the biggest smoke & mirrors act around (as a Kranky nut I say that with all due respect), and TV on the Radio, who seem to get a perpetual pass despite making lousy records--the first e.p. and album notwithstanding.
